Sensus Crypto aims to provide an easily digestible explanation of the cryptocurrency and distributed ledger technology landscape. From the basics of understanding what cryptocurrencies are, to demystifying blockchains and distributed ledger technologies.

Cryptocurrencies can be difficult to understand. They don’t need to be. They should be simple.

They can be used as mediums of exchange, stores of value or both. Each cryptocurrency aims to solve a real-world problem; whether it’s a theoretically unmanipulable currency, to privacy, to creating the world’s largest supercomputer, to a standard for universal digital identity, to storing real estate records. They each pose a different solution to solving a real-world need.
Cryptocurrencies live online and are not backed by any government, they’re back by their networks. Most, but not all cryptocurrencies use a distributed ledger, or blockchain to store transactions, data, or any other content. Think of blockchain as a decentralized transaction database.
Sensus Crypto is a collaborative venture by the staff and it’s readers. Have any questions about the digital currency markets? Send them to us, we’d happy to write a post.
